We have been getting feedback on our website about the cost of the Tyredown. At first, like any business owner, I was concerned about possibly being out of reach to all dirt bike/road bike users. Compared to other motorcycle tie downs they do seem expensive, considering that you can purchase motorcycle tie downs on e-bay for $5 to $20. The benefits are substantial when comparing the differences.
The feedback after those customers had bought it was something like this. "Man I don't know why I didn't buy it any sooner" and similar comments. A good percentage of customer post sale felt something similar to that comment. So, you might think this is a huge cost $159 road tyredown or $109 trail tyredown then I have to change the anchore points on the trailer?
1. Think of it this way to replace the seal on a regular trail bike is about $280 more depending on the type of front forks and more expensive on a road bikes.
2. Wear and tare on the handle bars.
3. Peace of mind knowing that you will still have the urge to look over your shoulder but rest assured you won't have to tighten the Tyredown a second or third time. Once its done its DONE... So the price $159 for the road or $109 for the trail is there any question.......why you shouldn't have one?
Q. Won't the motorcycle fall over?
A. No, it simply won't. We had grown men try to rip it from its anchor points, we have taken it 4 wheel driving. This unique tie down system pushes the bike forward and with its bracketing system holds the wheel firmly in place.
Q. Will the ratchet undo itself?
A. Not a chance - it's an industrial ratchet adapted for the securing of motorcycles.
Q. Will the ratchet or webbing disintegrate when transporting?
A. No, when used as per the fitting guidelines you will have many uninterrupted years of service. We use quality Ancra webbing and ratchet. These guys are world leaders in transporting equipment like webbing, ratchets, strapping etc. Ancra
Q. Do I have to Secure the Front Tyre?
A. Yes, otherwise the front tyre will bounce up causing damage to your motorcycle and others around. Use either bungie cord or quick release strapping sold in this site.
Q. Who uses this?
A. Weekend road racers, trailriders, transport companys. Anyone who transports their bike and wants peace of mind.
Q. What happens if I get a flat tyre, will it still hold?
A. Absolutely, Yes
Q. How do you fit it correctly? Click Here
Rear wheel should be placed between the 2 anchor points.
b. The tyredown should be place over the rear tyre, position slightly rear of centre over the rear wheel providing some force forward.
c. Pull out any slack, then use the ratcheting buckle to tighten. Ensure that you're applying force on both sides evenly
d. The front wheel, will need securing to prevent it from bouncing. Use a strap or bungie cord rated for you bikes weight.
Q. How should the anchor points on a trailer and/or ute be organised? Click Here
A. Anchor points should be fixed to a secure base between 750mm to 900mm or 2.46ft to 2.95ft or 29.53in to 37.40in, just to cover everyone.
Q. It costs too much?
A. That's easy, just ask any motorcycle mechanic ask specifically what it would cost to replace the front fork seals? You'll be shock as I was when I heard. Not only that, it will also lessen fork performance over a period of time. I must admit that after seeing motorcycle tie downs on e-bay and alike for $5.00 to $10.00. It would seem a bit much to be paying over a hundred dollars. Put it this way you pay for what you get. I have seen as you probably have if not experienced looking over your shoulder to see if the bikes have come loose or they're bouncing around or worse fallen over. You won't have to pull over on the side of the road to tighten or check things once the Tyredown is fitted correctly. It ain't going anywhere!
Q. Will it damage the rear wheel bearings?
A. No, the bike experiences more pressure when it's ridden than when it's being transported.
Q. Which bikes doesn't it suit?
a. BMW tourers with fixed panniers ie K1200LT or ones with low exhaust pipes.
b. Honda Goldwing fixed panniers
c. Harley Davidson otherwise, any bike with low pipes, full rear guards and fixed panniers.
Q. Which bikes will it fit?
A. All bikes excluding the ones above. check out the photo gallery and video clips.
Q. Has the TyreDown ever failed?
A. No, as far as we know and we've sold hundreds and hundreds. It's because we use quality gear from Ancra both ratcheting and webbing for your peace of mind. Be wary of imitations because they will malfunction, we've seen it unfortunately.
Q. Can you leave the motorcycle tied down overnight to make a quick getaway early morning?
A. You bet no need to worry about the fork seals bursting, Tyredown is ready to go as soon as you are.
Q. Does any maintenance have to be carried out on the Tyredown?
A. No specific maintenance though YOU MUST ALWAYS CHECK THE TYREDOWN AND YOU ANCHOR POINTS WHENEVER LOADING YOUR BIKE REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT YOUR USING A TYREDOWN PRODUCT.
Check for the basics wear and tear on the webbing and the ratchet. If you're unsure
